Top Twelve Summer Books I'm Dying To Read!

Hi, everybody! :)

Just because I've spent a lot of time pining over books that I'm dying to get my hands on lately (to the point where I'm constantly distracted!),  I decided to make up a post of the top twelve (because trying to make a list of ten just didn't work) books I'm dying to read that are released this summer! Here they are, in no particular order:

______

(Covers & titles link to Goodreads)

1. The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
Series: Bloodlines #1
Release Date: June 12, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: I am and always have been Team Adrian, and I actually liked (please don't kill me) Bloodlines better than Vampire Academy! I would trade in various organs to get my hands on this book now. :')

2. Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent
Series: Soul Screamers #6
Release Date: June 26, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: It's RACHEL VINCENT. It's about REAPERS. It has TOD HUDSON in it. This series is one of my favourites of all time, so you can only imagine how excited I am to be a part of the blog tour for this in June!!!! I danced around forever! ♥

3. Losing Lila by Sarah Alderson
Series: Lila #2
Release Date: August 2, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: Because Hunting Lila was one of my faves of 2011 and I'm already hovering with my mouse over the clicker to add this one on my list right next to it! ;)

4. Enshadowed by Kelly Creagh
Series: Nevermore #2
Release Date: August 28, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: I read the first book, Nevermore, in 2010 and was so sad when they pushed the release date back for this sequel because I want more gothic Varen and kick-butt Isobel. But now I'm just happy that it's coming out soon! :)

5. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Series: N/A
Release Date: June 14, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: Part because I really need a contemporary book on this list, and part because I have a weakness for the boys next door! Doesn't this one sound really sweet?

6. Defiance by C.S. Redwine
Series: Defiance #1
Release Date: August 28, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: Have you READ the synopsis? I fell in love with the idea of it immediately, and I'm crossing my fingers and legs and toes that this won't disappoint!

7. Spark by Brigid Kemmerer
Series: Elemental #2
Release Date: August 28, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: The first book was made of epic amazingness (just like Brigid herself and the five amazing boys she created in Storm!), and I don't think anyone who's read the first one is going to pass up the chance to know more about Gabriel! ;)

8. Auracle by Gina Rosati
Series: N/A
Release Date: August 2, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: Authors are starting to get back into writing crazy original stories with cool premises, and this one (about astral projection) is just one exhibit in a really big museum! Thank goodness for that! :)

9. Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: Lux #2
Release Date: August 14, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: If you need to ask this question, I'm going to assume that you haven't read Obsidian yet and I'll gladly drag you to the nearest bookstore to pick this up! Aliens and book bloggers have never made a better mix than in this book! :)

10. Inbetween by Tara A. Fuller
Series: Kissed by Death #1
Release Date: August 14, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: More reapers!! *dances happily* They're really starting to top witches as my favourite paranormal creatures now, and I want this to be one of the books that helps turn me!

11. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarrey
Series: N/A
Release Date: July 31, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: Another contemporary! (See, you can't say I didn't include any!) A few of my blogging friends recently raved about it, so I'm prepared to go into this one with tissues and a cozy blanket!

12. Foretold by Richelle Mead, Meg Cabot, Laini Taylor, etc.
Series: N/A
Release Date: August 28, 2012

Why I'm dying to read this: I'm not usually an anthology girl, but this one has authors like Richelle Mead and Meg Cabot and Laini Taylor contributing, so this is a definite MUST!

______

And that's just a fraction of the many books that I've been dying to read this summer! (A lot of them are a part of a series of some sort haha... but I did sneak some standalones in there too!) Can you imagine how big my pre-order lists for the next few months are? Because they would seriously put any book-lover to shame! :')

What books are you dying for this summer?

-Mimi

    1. I also love, need to hug, bloodlines more than VA because I connect with the characters more. ( I have several things in common with Sydney and love and want Adrian to be real) I still love the incredible VA series, just not as much.

  6. How did you pick only 12?! I know that gives you a little more wiggle room than 10 but still...

I am now super excited about Foretold now. I'd heard of most of the others but not this one and I'm a total Meg Cabot fangirl so it's a must read!

  8. YESSSSSSS MIMI!!!! I'm dying for so many of these too! Especially Defiance and Auracle, those cannot get in my hands fast enough! I finished My Life Next Door recently and LOVED it, I can't wait for it to come out so I can get my own copy. I love blog tours, but I get depressed having to send a book I love on to the next person, I just want to hug it to my chest and not let go:) Have a fabulous weekend!

  9. Awesomeeeee list. YESS to all of these, Mimi :)

I am a diehard Bloodlines fan (Sydney and Adrian are my favorites) - I love them both so much, haha. I need The Golden Lily now. I have been reading quotes from it and it looks like its gonna be amazinggg.

With you on My Life Next Door, Pushing the Limits, and Inbetween (reapers - hells yea).

And I actually just received Obsidian in the mail. Soooo excited to read that one. If I would've known the main girl was a book blogger I would've read it earlier but alas it was a series I just discovered so I'm on it now LOL.

Cover for Spark. Gorgeousss, haha. I need to read Storm.

  10. Let me tell you a secret: top 10 lists never work! At least when it comes to favorite books. I've given up to create such lists. :D

But I loooooove your Top 12 list. So many of these are on my to-buy list, too. By the way, PUSHING THE LIMITS is on NetGalley and DEFIANCE is on Edelweiss. And yes, I freaked out just a tiny little bit when seeing these titles. Only need to keep crossing my fingers to be accepted for DEFIANCE.

    Happy summer reading!

  12. Nice looking list you have there. I need to get my hands on the first in a lot of those series you have listed. One of my favorite authors is about to release a few new novels during the summer that I'm anxious to get my hands on.

Other than that, I'm really wanting that book Of Poseidon!

  13. Oh my goodness, Mimi! You've put together a dream list!! I'm looking forward to every one of these. I read The Golden Lily and it's amazing! If you're a big fan of Bloodlines (like me) you'll love it. Adrian!!!

I'm also giddy with anticipation over Enshadowed! I LOVED Nevermore, and like you I was really disappointed when the date got moved back, ahhhh! Especially after that ending!

    Amazing picks, my dear. :)

  19. Oh my goodness. I realized I'm going to be poor by the end of summer. Oh, well. I'll be happy at least because I'd have all these more-than-amazing books! *--* Gosh, so much fangirling material.

I'm SO dying to read The Golden Lily, too. Glad I preordered it, but hoping it doesn't take long to get to my remote country once it's shipped :D Defiance definitely sounds amazing! I've seen it's on Edelweiss, so you should really go request it :) And OMG SPARK. We're both dying to read more about the brothers, I see. CAN'T. WAIT.
