Showcase Sunday #1

Thanks to the awesome tips from you awesome people (hi there!), I've decided to participate in the new meme created by Vicky @ Book, Biscuits, and Tea, Sunday Showcase! It's a cool new way for bloggers to showcase the books they've gotten in the past week, and I'm excited to take part. :)

FOR REVIEW:

Croak by Gina Damico

I think all of you need to go get your hands on Croak ASAP — I already read, loved, and reviewed it HERE! And I don't read very many middle grade reads, but mermaids and ghosts? I just had to say yes! Will be reviewing these for my blog tour dates soon :) Thanks so much to Thomas Allen & Son and Sourcebooks for sending these!

BORROWED:

The Last Echo by Kimberly Derting
The List by Siobhan Vivian
Haven by Kristi Cook
A Million Suns by Beth Revis

BOUGHT:

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Already read and loved CoLS and Insurgent! Have I been reminded of how both Cassie and Veronica are pure geniuses? YES. Heck YES. :')

That's everything for this week! I'm trying to cut back on how many books I request (both from publishers and from the library) because my TBR pile seriously towers over my house, but sometimes I can't help myself. x) Thanks so much again to Thomas Allen & Son and Sourcebooks!

And I have this habit of assuming that everyone has the same holidays as we do here in Canada (or as I do in my school LOL), but I hope you're all having a great weekend, regardless of whether or not it's Victoria Day for you on Monday or not! :)

WHAT BOOKS DID YOU GET THIS WEEK?

  7. Fun book haul, Mimi! I loved that you loved Croak and hope it makes it to my haul soon. I just finished reading The List last night and except for one tiny thing I loved the book. Waiting to read about your thoughts on it as well :-) I'm yet to read Across the Universe; but it sounds like a totally original and awesome series and I cannot wait to read it soon and A Million Suns after that. Happy reading <33

  10. I really really want to try Real Mermaids Don't Need to Breath at some point! It looks like a cute summer read! And everybody this month had to have picked up CoLS and/or Insurgent. Like, everybody. XD Can't wait to read my own copies. And The Last Echo was very good, Mimi! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. As well as Darkness Becomes Her. I have to read the sequel at some point! And I feel like the only one in the universe who hasn't read ACROSS the Universe. I feel so crappy! XDD

I still have to read The Body Finder... Yeah, some day LOL Unfortunately, I started reading Haven but it didn't pull me in enough for me to buy it :( I hope you like it better! I've also been interested in The List. I can't wait to read what you thought of it :D

Victoria Day? Never heard of it 0_0 Anyways, have fun! Since tomorrow, Monday, you don't have school and all. I hope you have a wonderful week (Eek! Two more weeks of class, then finals! *panics*)~ ♥

  29. Yep, 110% to go freaking read Croak ASAP, thanks to you!! *grabby hands* Ooooh and A Million Suns! Darkness Becomes Her! Dying to get my hands on both of these. And I NEED to read Desires of the Dead soon *headdesk* I've had it in my bookshelf FOREVER.

I love how your TBR 'towers over your house' yet you still buy and borrow more hehehe. The sign of a true book addict :D

    ENJOY YOUR AWESOME READS!

Since there is a public holiday being recognised somewhere in the world, I seriously think Australia should acknowledge it aswell :P

  30. I finished reading Divergent about a week ago and picked up Insurgent the day it came out. It definately exceeded my expectations. I have been on a reading kick lately and this series is probably the best that I have read this year (I liked it more that The Hunger Games and Fifty Shades of Grey which are also popular right now). I love the character of Tris, specifically how she is independent. She has Four/Tobias as her love interest and yet she does not rely on him and often goes against his wishes to fight for what she believes in. The only thing that I hate about this book is the Cliff Hanger - I am in agony that I have to wait another year to find out what happens.

  31. Yaaay! :D Awesome books, Mimi! I also got DARKNESS BECOMES HER (which looks way way way TOO good) ^__^

I hope you enjoy all your books! Can't wait to read your reviews, especially on DARKNESS BECOMES HER! <3

Great haul this week-I am dying for my copy of Insurgent to come in at the library even though I have loads of other books that need to be read first. The life of a book blogger!

  33. Nice ...

I'm about to finish reading City of Bones tonight and then dive right into City of Ashes. And I keep seeing people read Insurgent on the subway and bus, so that's a sign I should just read it already.

    Have a great Victoria Day.

  34. After your review I want to read Croak so badly!! And I need to read Across The Universe so I can get to what everyone is calling the great reveal in A Million Suns! There is just so much to read and so little time though! I wish reading were a job!
