Q: Genre Wars! What's your favourite genre and which book in that genre made it your favourite?
A: Oh, geez, this one's hard! I'm in love with so many different genres as long as they fall into the Young Adult category. But I have to say that the final showdown is between YA urban fantasy and YA dystopian.

For urban fantasy books, The Mortal Instruments series by Cassie Clare has to be one of my favourites of all time but I have to admit that it was The Twilight saga that got me hooked. Actually, Stephenie Meyer's well known books were the ones that made me fall in love with reading in the first place.
And for dystopian, The Hunger Games is the first of the genre that I've read! It literally blew me away, and so many new dystopian novels (like Divergent by Veronica Roth) just keep me wanting more! My shelf is packed with this genre.
I guess I'm pretty mainstream considering that these two are very popular genres as of now, but these books are just so good!
What's your favourite genre? :)
HAPPY FOLLOW FRIDAY!

Hey Mimi!!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome that you love UF :) I am so with you. It's definitely my favorite, and Twilight influenced me as well (the book, not the movie *winks* Although I pretty much love those, too). Seriously, I need to get to reading the Hunger Games...it's in my TBR pile, and I'll be reading it next. There, promise made, and I WILL keep it lol
Have a great weekend!

I too found it real hard deciding. I'm mixing genres a bit too much sometimes. I do have two favourites though, but choosing... Nah, LOL. I went with both. ;)

ReplyDeleteLove your site! That buy or borrow thing is pure genius. I read your review on Paranormalcy and I'm 99% you and I are on the same wave length. (especially since you loved Nevermore!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for following! Following back.

Hey new follower, I'm finding more and more that I am really enjoying dystopian as well. But, I also really like Steampunk, too. Those are a lot of fun and if you haven't read any, then I suggest The Girl In The Steel Corset and Leviathan by Scott Westerfield.
ReplyDeleteTMI is definitely one of my favorite series and I have yet to read The Hunger Games, but I'll get around to it eventually. All of the hype kinda turned me off a bit, but I'm thinking I'll just bite the bullet and start. :)

I had a hard time deciding between urban fantasy and dystopian too! And I loved all the books you mentioned in your post. Well, except Twilight...I used to like it alot, but then the movie totally ruined the series for me):
ReplyDeleteNew follower:D Great to see another teen around!

Its so hard to pick a favourite genre isn't it?! I love Dystopian too - Divergent and the first Hunger Games were both amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi Mimi! I'm a new follower. I love the Mortal Instrument books. They just suck you in. But Twilight will always be my first love. I still connect better to that story than any other YA series.
ReplyDeleteMy Hop
I chose dystopian. I also listed a few I like on my Follow Friday post.

Hi Mimi! Thanks so much for visiting my blog the other day, your lovely comment made my day. :-) I saw on your profile that you're from Canada? Me too! I rarely find Canadian bloggers but you're like the 3rd I've come across just in the last hour lol. Anyway, I love Twilight and The Hunger Games too, and have Mortal Instruments on my list, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I love your blog, so I'll be back! :-)
