MY THOUGHTS:  

Oh wow, I have a HUGE and absolute crush on this book! It had me smiling and aching and wishing it could be turned into a movie. I just couldn't get enough!  

Mostly taking place over the span of three days, From What I Remember is told through 5 different POVs — which normally wouldn't be my cup of tea, but totally works here! Each of the characters are distinctive and fun and have their own personalities that make it so easy to tell them apart and even easier to connect with them.  

The romance between Kylie and Max starts out rocky but progresses beautifully through whacky events like being kidnapped and taken to Mexico. It's more than your average serious-smart girl and heartthrob jock love story. They compliment and bring out the best in each other, and everything was realistic and sweet and SO genuine! ♥ The pacing — both with their relationship and the storyline — was perfect, and I was never, ever bored!  

But the rest of the characters also stand out and make From What I Remember even stronger than it already is! There's Will, the gay best friend who is literally the funniest guy ever. His love for Kylie and their habit of quoting movie lines to each other made me smile. Somehow I even found myself empathizing with Lily, the resident mean girl. 

Another thing I loved was the amount of self-discovery and growing up in this book. So close to graduation, each of them go through their own epiphanies and growth. I think that this would be the perfect book to read especially if you're a teen who doesn't know where you're going. I was inspired by these characters and I feel everyone will be too! :)

With an amazing cast, a perfect pace, and an absolutely sweet romance, From What I Remember was an entertaining story about self-discovery and unexpected romance. I was captivated for all near-500 pages and I almost wished I could've had more!

MY THOUGHTS:  

After not really loving Glow earlier this year, I went into the sequel with zero expectations. I started it thinking I'd be able to fit in a few chapters here and there, that I could put it down if I wanted to. But I was completely wrong!  

Spark was amazing from beginning to heart-stopping end! It picks up right where Glow left off, with all of the kids stuck on the spaceship alone, trying to reunite with their parents who were captive on another ship.There's a little bit of deception, a lot of secrets, and enough mistrust to last a lifetime. It all makes everything on the Empyrean even more intense.  

I was so invested in this story that I found myself yelling out loud. When bad things happened, I curled up in a ball and prayed for the best. And when Kieran did something ridiculous, I imagined hitting him over the head with a stick. Repeatedly.  

(Seth was my favourite character, so everything Kieran did to him just made me so angry!)  

My heart ached for Waverly. Everyone wrongly blamed her for abandoning their parents, even though none of them would've made it out alive if she hadn't done what she did. She had to live with everyone's hatred and guilt everyday, but she still stayed strong and more clear-minded.. She was fifteen like I am, but I could never imagine being as strong as her!  

Actually, the whole cast continued to blow my mind. Over and over again, I reminded myself that they were just kids — that the oldest on the space ship was sixteen years old, and yet somehow they were surviving. They were intelligent and sneaky when they need to be, yet despite their brilliance, it was easy to see how real they were as kids. It was all believable.

With an intensely unpredictable storyline and characters I couldn't stop rooting for, Spark was an amazing installment to the series that sure sets the bar high for the next! :) 

BUY or BORROW?: I would recommend this book whether you liked Glow or not! It was absolutely worth the sleepless night I got from wrongly believing it wouldn't be that addicting! ;)

MY THOUGHTS:  

Oh sweet goodness, how I loved this book!  

In the first novel, Die For Me, it was the romantic Paris setting and idea of revenants — undead beings with the compulsion to die to save others — that captivated me. The idea was completely unique and executed with perfection, but even though I loved the characters with all my heart, I was never really sold on the romance. 

But in Until I Die, somehow Amy Plum managed to make everything more intense, more lovable, more breathtaking — even the romance! Kate and Vincent have to be the perfect couple. I don't mean that their relationship is without its complications (because it definitely isn't), but I can finally see how they fit so well together. Their banter and interactions are funny and sweet, and being set in Paris, I was constantly swooning off my feet!  

The middle of the book is admittedly a little slower as Kate tries to find out how to help Vincent resist his compulsion to sacrifice himself to save others. But that is my only complaint! 

Otherwise, I loved every second I could spend with my favourite characters again! From sweet and stubborn Kate to Vincent (the perfect dream boyfriend ♥) to Jules (my favourite playboy of all time — without making this a love triangle!) as well as all of the other awesome revenants, both new and old, they were always a blast to read about.  

Beautifully written and ending with one of the most heart-pounding, heart-breaking, and heart-tearing conclusions ever, Until I Die is an unpredictable and captivating installment to a trilogy that is quickly becoming one of my favourites. Amy Plum has made a total fangirl out of me! :)  

BUY or BORROW?: I'd recommend that you buy this even if you haven't read the first book yet! That just means you have to backtrack to the first one beforehand, which you should be doing anyways ;)

MY THOUGHTS:  

Vampire books are usually bloody and dark and nightmare-inducing. But ReVamped focuses more on the fun side of vampires, which is one reason why I adored it so much!  

ReVamped takes place in a world where vampires coexist peacefully together with humans, who idolize vampires rather than fear them. There are TV shows like Next Vamp Idol and Transylvania Shore, as well as drinks like Blood Cola. They even have a Scarlet House for a vampire president next to the human one.

Dawn was so easy to love! As the Born vampire daughter of the Vampire President, she was raised and trained in near-isolation within the Scarlet House. While her training made her more kick-butt than most other vampires, her isolation made her adorably and realistically awkward around some — especially boys. She was far from shy and still had a snarky trademark, but Dawn didn't always know how to react to a boy's affection, which was so endearing! ♥  

Other characters, like sweet Ethan, brooding Sebastian, and the vampire misfits who Dawn was sent to whip up into shape, will put a smile on your face as well. My only wish is that we could've gotten to know the characters a bit better — dove beneath the polished surface more — but I guess there's always room for more development in future installments. 

With a fantastic cast of characters, a fun yet mysterious storyline, and vampires you'll wish lived in your world, ReVamped is a refreshing new take on the supernatural creatures we all know and love! I could never stop smiling at the vampire lore Ada Adams created. It was creative, fun, original, AWESOME. Definitely a novel you'll finish in one sitting!

MY THOUGHTS:  

"Ohmysweetgoodness!" Out of all the mermaid books I've ever read, Of Poseidon definitely takes the top spot! I absolutely loved it from start to finish. 

Told from the alternating perspectives between Emma and Galen, the story is so well-written and easy to get absorbed in that it's definitely a one-sit read. Not only is the lore of Syrena incredibly fascinating, but there's also an underlying mystery that hooks you in even more. You can never really guess what's going to happen. This story will grab you hook, line, and sinker, and you can only hang on for the speedy ride.  

I know I must say this a lot, but Emma has to be my new best friend! She's stubborn and snarky and absolutely hilarious in that subtle-clever sort of way. And I don't know what to say about Galen except that he makes a tail seem like the hottest thing ever. ♥ The romance is electric and sizzling. Every moment they spend denying their attraction to each other is another moment you want to push them together — but in a good way! 

The rest of the cast is fun too. Rayna and Toraf, other Syrena like Galen, are a blast. Even their human friends like Rachel bring smiles to my face. Of Poseidon also ends on a cliffhanger that makes me want to pull my hair out, but I can't even recommend that you read this book closer to the release of the second because it's one you want to read as soon as possible.  

Fast-paced, fun, and with a romance that teases and pleases at the exact same time, Of Poseidon is undoubtedly the best fish-filled story ever to hit the shelves. I can guarantee that you'll lose sleep reading this book and thinking about it after! :)

MY THOUGHTS:  

I don't want to write this review. Instead, I want to hide in the corner with a blanket and some tissues so I can read this book all over again because: It. Was. AMAZING!  

Taking place right where Demonglass left off, Spell Bound starts off running and doesn't slow down at all. Every time you think that something is going right and the cast will finally get a break, something else goes wrong that leaves you flipping pages faster than before. Hawkins knows how to write a one-sit read, and she proves it a million times over with this book!   

Sophie has to be one of my favourite heroines of all time! She's the Queen of Snark, the demon you want as your best friend, the kind of girl you can count on... but most of all, she's real. So much happens during the span of this book — and this entire series — that causes her to continue to grow yet still remain the same fantastic girl we know and love.  

This review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the boys. ♥ I love Archer because his snark matches Sophie's in a way that makes him perfect for her, and he has that sort of bad-boyish feel to him that all girls love. But Cal — who pulls off the strong, silent, yet really sweet healer like no one else — will do some things that will completely win over your heart.  

My only complaint is that there's one HUGE plot twist near the end that I felt wasn't touched on enough! I wanted closure; I wanted recognition; I wanted time to cry, damn it, because it blew me off my feet even though the rest of the end felt perfect in its own way.  

Finales are always hard to swallow because sometimes you're too emotional over the end to feel anything else, but Rachel Hawkins managed to craft a brilliant end to a brilliant series! Spell Bound is as fast-paced, fun, and awesome as I thought it would be, yet it was also intense, gripping, and heartbreaking too. My recommendation for this series is sky high!  

BUY or BORROW?: If you don't have this series on your shelf yet, I have nothing to say to you except to buy it! These books are perfect if you want to read something fast or fun or just plain awesome. I LOVE having them all on my shelf! :)

MY THOUGHTS:

You know you have an amazing sequel when you love it more than the first book — and that's exactly the case with Torn! I wasn't expecting to be as blown away as I was but I ended up loving it from the beautiful cover to the heartbreaking end.

From the very first page, I already knew I was going to lose sleep reading this book! It still gives enough information to remind you of what happened in Switched, but the recap isn't boring or overwhelming. We also get to learn more about the Trylle lore, with its beautiful and magical trolls that are separated into two quarreling kingdoms (both of which have automatically made it onto my list of Fictional Places I Want To Live In).

In the first book, Wendy was only discovering her Trylle heritage and she was admittedly a little childish with her actions. But in Torn, you watch her grow and develop and have to go through so many sacrifices to protect her kingdom that you can't help but love her! My heart was on an inconsistent rhythm, but it was always in sync with hers.

Wendy's birth mother, Elora, also surprised me with how much I grew to like her. And even though you watch Wendy's forbidden romance with Finn dwindle before your eyes, which is as painful and heartbreaking to us as it is to her, we get to meet Loki (who completely stole me heart)! How can you not fall for a guy who's fun and sardonic yet still adorably sweet??

Beautifully written and crafted, Torn is a book that I think everyone should have on their shelf! The lore is original and enchanting, the romance is sweet and heartbreaking, and Wendy's sacrifices will tear you apart. I can't wait to get my hands on the final installment! :)

MY THOUGHTS:  

Absolutely ADORABLE. Magical. Smile-inducing. And so incredibly sweet! This book is one of the many reasons why I love fairytales and their re-tellings so much! 

Enchanted may mention some of my favourite fairytales — from The Princess and the Frog to Cinderella to Jack and the Beanstalk and more! — but it's much more than just a re-telling of them all. Alethea Kontis weaves them perfectly into an original and surprisingly complex story that's her own, adding in a cast of fantastic characters that will steal your heart away.  

Sweet and caring and determined and clever, I adored Sunday from start to finish! Both she and Rumbold (my new favourite frog prince) warmed my heart repeatedly. I love how the very first time she kisses him as a frog, he doesn't change back right away. It was sweetly realistic.

Some people may be turned off by the promise of insta-love (since this is a fairytale, after all), but the author managed to pull it off perfectly without making it feel like overwhelming devotion! And even if that instant spark does bother you at first, I promise that by the end of the book, you'll love them both too much to care. 

Beautiful, enchanting, and everything I could ever ask for, Enchanted is one of my favourite re-tellings of anything to date! Alethea Kontis, like Sunday, is a masterful storyteller, and you should definitely be prepared to smile when you pick up this book. :)  

BUY or BORROW?: An absolute MUST-have for anyone who likes (or just appreciates) fairytales at all, but even if you don't, I'd recommend this book anyways!

MY THOUGHTS:  

Here's the truth: with the huge amount of dystopians coming out right now, I didn't expect to be blown away when I started this book. But this was one of those times when I wish I'd thrown my instincts out the window and read this sooner — Under the Never Sky was amazing!

The beginning was a little confusing because this book takes place in a whole new world — with Dwellers, Outsiders, Realms, etcetera — and some of the terms weren't fully explained in the beginning. But I actually loved that Veroinca Rossi didn't overwhelm us with information at one time! It helped us get sucked into the twisting and fast-paced plot so much easier.

Aria and Perry were both fierce, determined, and extremely layered characters that I loved so much! The romance between them wasn't a love triangle or insta-love or anything else from the cookie cutter. It sprung from a tentative alliance for survival and grew into something so beautiful that my heart ached. The whole cast was incredibly awesome (like Roar)!

And another thing I loved about this book was that there was never a point in the story when I could say, "Oh, I know what's going to happen next!" It continuously surprised me over and over again with its originality and intensity. Plus, the supernatural aspect was so cool!

Dangerous yet beautiful, terrifying yet totally enthralling, Under the Never Sky was probably one of the most original and compelling books I've ever read! It left me mesmerized and wishing I had book 2 immediately. Definitely a book I'd recommend! :)

BUY or BORROW?: I bought this book on a whim and I LOVE having it on my shelf! You won't find another one like it, I promise — buy it for sure!

MY THOUGHTS:  

I honestly can't believe how much I loved this book! I think I might be one of the few people who liked Crossed more than its predecessor, Matched.  

One of my favourite things about Crossed was that it was told through alternating first person narratives between Cassia and Ky, because I loved being able to see how they saw each other. Cassia and Ky were both such sweet, emotionally strong, and realistically flawed characters, and their romance made me ache in places that shouldn't be able to ache.  

Admittedly, Crossed was a little hard to get into at first because the pacing was slower. But once I did, I couldn't put it down! And not because it was a fast-paced adventure with lots of action, but because it was a gripping and surprising journey that had me rooting for the characters all the way through! 

There's something beautiful about the way Ally Condie writes. It's like poetry, but not! At first they just look like words, sometimes a little confusing, but when you understand them they move you. They have meaning. They make your heart ache and your mind float and I love it.  

Beautiful, heart-aching, and definitely inspirational, Crossed is a sequel I wholeheartedly recommend to everyone who enjoyed Matched! And don't get me wrong — you'll love this book if you're Team Xander too! I can't wait until I can get my hands on the next installment!

MY THOUGHTS:  

I honestly had to stop re-reading Embrace just to start this review! It's the kind of book that catches your attention from page one and keeps it long even after the last page is turned. Make sure that you have lots of time when you start this because you won't be able to put it down!

Embrace is about angels, but it's in no way just another angel book! There are Grigori, and angel exiles, and sacrifices needed to embrace their power. It was so easy to get sucked into the twisting plot with the awesome angel lore — it was enthralling and original to say the least!

Violet was the perfect main character for this novel! She was so strong and resilient even when things were completely messed up, and my heart broke for her several times. And Lincoln (♥) and Phoenix deserve every swoon-worthy sigh they get! The romance — sweet and sensual and a little bit dangerous — just tore me apart.  

Totally enticing and 100% entertaining, Embrace is a book you don't want to miss! It doesn't end on a cliffhanger but I still wish I had the next book with me right now. I can already tell that this series is going to be amazing! :)

BUY or BORROW?: You definitely want to own this book so you can re-read it like I already have! And I'm going to get a finished copy just so I can have that gorgeous purple cover on my shelf! ;)

MY THOUGHTS:  

Three words to describe this book: Beautiful, original, and absolutely MAGICAL!  

It wasn't just the story that was magical, but the romance and setting too! I honestly didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book, but Illuminate surprised me with how enchanting it all was. Kind of like a fairytale spell.

I'm pretty picky with my angel books (although I didn't even know this was an angel book until I read it!), but I adored Aimee Agresti's interpretation! Just like the storyline, it was completely original with a sort of mystical feel to it that only added to the intrigue.  

But my favourite thing had to be the characters. Sweet, intelligent, and passionate about photography, Haven was so easy to connect with. And her romance with Lance was honestly one of the sweetest I've ever read! It was refreshing and realistic (no insta-love here!), and he just had to be one of the most adorable boys in YA! 

Both mysterious and mystifying, Illuminate was a debut that swept me off my feet! The only thing is that some parts seemed a little long, but otherwise I had no complaints. Aimee Agresti is definitely an author to watch out for! :)

MY THOUGHTS:  

First, let me just say that I'm a baby chick when it comes to this kind of stuff. I'm not into anything terrifying or gory or even remotely scary, because I get nightmares way more often than I dream. But even with all of that, Anna Dressed in Blood was awesome!

It was everything I was expecting and more! There were ghosts and blood and mystery and a surprisingly sweet romance that made me smile. Not only that, but this book was funny. Like, right after a scene that gave you shivers, one of the characters would say something and you'd burst out laughing even though you knew it wasn't really the right time.

(And nope, they weren't just morbid jokes!)

I can't even explain how much I loved Cas! Anna Dressed in Blood was another one of the few examples that could pull off a male narrative written by a female author. Cas was just awesome, and his other awesome friends (like Carmel and Thomas and even his mom!) made it doubly awesome!

Clever and suspenseful, Anna Dressed in Blood is a book I think tons of people would enjoy, whether they're into horror books or not! It wasn't overly gory, but it didn't lack in those shiver-inducing aspects either. I would definitely recommend it, and I can't wait for the sequel to come out!

BUY or BORROW?: This is a horror book fan must-have! Even if you don't like horror though, this one would be awesome because of the great plot and beautifully haunting cover! :)

MY THOUGHTS:

First, let me just say that you shouldn't pass up this book just because the cover isn't (admittedly) the prettiest. I honestly adored everything about this novel (and it's not just because the main girl's name is Mimi)! 

Saving Juliet is like a modern spin on Romeo and Juliet but not at the same time! It's more about a girl who is accidentally finds herself stuck in the world's greatest love story, where Shakespeare's version is about as similar to it as a baby chick is to a hawk. It's fun and sweet and SO hilarious sometimes that I'm constantly in the land of Goofy Grins.

My absolute favourite thing about this book is the cast. Mimi (LOL ♥) is such a strong and hilarious character, and her interactions with Troy — who we first just see as a spoiled pop star but ends up being so, so sweet — make me want to laugh out loud! Plus, I adored that Juliet was just a young girl with a lot of spunk.

Hilarious, heartwarming, and absolutely adorable, Saving Juliet is the perfect sort-of remake of Shakespeare's famous classic! The plot is fun, well-crafted, and mixed with twists that keep it all interesting. I recommend it wholeheartedly whether you're a fan of Shakespeare or not! 

BUY or BORROW?: I won't blame you if you're hesitant to buy this one (because I certainly was), but you should definitely read it anyways because it's just such a fun book! :)

MY THOUGHTS:  

Ever get that giggly feeling in your stomach when you read a really, really cute book? That's what I got from reading Moonlight. I love this book with all my heart!  

Werewolf (or shape-shifter) books are easy to find nowadays, but there are only few that actually pull you into the story and refuse to let go — for me, Moonlight was one of them! The synopsis doesn't do this book justice because I started it with a hesitant mind and ended up loving it. 

I can't ask for a more perfect voice for this novel! Kayla is such a sweet, nature-loving character who I adored from page one. And Lucas is the leader of the Dark Guardians who made me sigh every time he was around. There's nothing hotter than a bad-ass shape-shifter, and there's nothing sweeter than Kayla and Lucas's relationship!  

The plot, although admittedly a little predictable, is always fun to read because of the awesome way it's written and the fast-paced plot. Moonlight is so much lighter and more enjoyable than I ever could've imagined, and I would recommend it to everyone without a doubt! :) 

BUY or BORROW?: This is the kind of book I wish I had on my shelf, because the first thing I want to do is go back and read it again! It's all the sweetness and fun without being cheesy!

MY THOUGHTS:  

WOW! Even with all the vampire books out there right now, Vampire Academy is definitely one of the more impressive favourites! I just love it so much more than I thought I would. It's original and complicated in that I-want-to-know-more sort of way.  

Everything about this book entertains. From the clever writing style, to the snarky heroine, to the fast-paced plot, I couldn't stop reading until it was done! It doesn't end on a cliffhanger (yay!), but that doesn't lessen your urge to immediately pick up the next book at all. 

Rose deserves every praise anyone has ever given her! She's smart, bad-ass, straightforward, and fiercely protective of those she cares about. I admire her through-and-through! And I love her entire relationship with Dimitri, partly because I have a huge thing for guys with accents and partly because forbidden romance has never looked so good. 

This entire book is an action-packed ride that surprises you at every turn! I recommend it to everyone wholeheartedly, whether you like vampires or not (because you probably will, after reading this). Vampire Academy is an awesome first book to a bound-to-be breathtaking series!

Jeri jumping jacks, this book was awesome!

I picked it up in recommendation without knowing what to expect. To be honest, neither the cover nor synopsis really caught my eye. But I just adored it. 

From the very first page, Shade sucked me into a fascinating world where every child born after the Shift (which occurred sixteen years ago) could see the violet ghosts of those unable to pass on. Every little detail was amazing and believable! Jeri Smith-Ready managed to create one of the most compelling worlds I've read in a while — and, given the amount of books I read, that's saying something.

The love triangle was so much better than I expected it to be, too. It was authentic in every way, and I can honestly say that I was torn between the two incredible guys. Super hot exchange student or (dead) rocker boyfriend? Hardest question of life! I'm so anxious to see who our heroine Aura (another reason why I adore this book) chooses in the sequel.

Original, brilliant, and well-written, Shade was a thrilling roller coaster ride that had me grinning like an idiot in some parts and wanting to throw the book across the room in others. Because of the mature content and language (note the warning here!), it's definitely a book I'd recommend to all older teens, if not everybody! :)

BUY or BORROW?: Buy it! Even if you're not the biggest fan of the cover (like me), what's inside is definitely worth every penny!

MY THOUGHTS:

I picked up this book because the whole premise was breathtaking. A world where love was a disease? How amazing does that sound? And I adored it!

Lena was a great and realistic character. She was far from perfect, but watching her grow throughout the story was one of the things that makes this story so great. And her relationship with Alex — absolutely gorgeous and swoon-worthy Alex — was as raw and beautiful as first love should be.

Lauren Oliver's beautiful writing style captured me from the very first page. Sometimes I just wanted to jump up and down to hurry to the good parts but I'm glad I stuck through it, because Delirium was absolutely and beautifully amazing. And in those last few pages, I swear I only took one breath.

In conclusion, I loved Delirium! I'm anxiously awaiting for the next book, Pandemonium, to come out!  

BUY or BORROW?: If you have a growing collection of dystopian YA novels on your bookshelf (like me!), this is definitely one you need to add to the list! :)
