Violet Eden is dreading her seventeenth birthday dinner. After all, it’s hard to get too excited about the day that marks the anniversary of your mother’s death. The one bright spot is that Lincoln will be there. Sexy, mature and aloof, he is Violet’s idea of perfection. But why does he seem so reluctant to be anything more than a friend?

After he gives her the world’s most incredible kiss – and then abandons her on her front doorstep – Violet is determined to get some answers. But nothing could have prepared her for Lincoln’s explanation: he is Grigori – part angel and part human – and Violet is his eternal partner.

Without warning, Violet’s world is turned upside down. She never believed in God, let alone angels. But there’s no denying the strange changes in her body ... and her feelings for Lincoln. Suddenly, she can’t stand to be around him. Luckily, Phoenix, an exiled angel, has come into her life. He’s intense and enigmatic, but at least he never lied to her.

As Violet gets caught up in an ancient battle between dark and light, she must choose her path. The wrong choice could cost not only her life, but her eternity...

MY THOUGHTS:

I honestly had to stop re-reading Embrace just to start this review! It's the kind of book that catches your attention from page one and keeps it long even after the last page is turned. Make sure that you have lots of time when you start this because you won't be able to put it down!

Embrace is about angels, but it's in no way just another angel book! There are Grigori, and angel exiles, and sacrifices needed to embrace their power. It was so easy to get sucked into the twisting plot with the awesome angel lore — it was enthralling and original to say the least!

Violet was the perfect main character for this novel! She was so strong and resilient even when things were completely messed up, and my heart broke for her several times. And Lincoln (♥) and Phoenix deserve every swoon-worthy sigh they get! The romance sweet and sensual and a little bit dangerous just tore me apart.

Totally enticing and 100% entertaining, Embrace is a book you don't want to miss! It doesn't end on a cliffhanger but I still wish I had the next book with me right now. I can already tell that this series is going to be amazing! :)

BUY or BORROW?: You definitely want to own this book so you can re-read it like I already have! And I'm going to get a finished copy just so I can have that gorgeous purple cover on my shelf! ;)

  8. Okay, how stupid am I? This book is by an Australian author and I've seen the Aussie version around but never picked it up! I think the second book is even already out. I'm going to go and buy it right now.

  9. Oh my goodness, it's that good?!
I'm with Lan, above. I've seen these books on shelves for a while, but the covers did NOTHING for me, and I never even gave them a second look! I've been paying attention ever since I saw that gorgeous, purple cover with the smoky wings! SO glad you loved it!

I need to look at this one... I feel kind of fail!

  10. What? Eeeep! I have to wait until May? *sobs*

I'm surprised by how much I want to read this one, since Angels usually don't interest me. Though I am nervous about that cliffie. Maybe it's good that I have to wait. LOL

  17. Not too sure about the love triangle aspect-Lincoln already sounds so awesome and I don't want to be swayed by someone else. Looks like another great addition to the angel subcategory of paranormal YA.

  19. Thank you so much for the fantastic review. I'm team Lincoln... I think we need to get shirts made.

Just a word of warning about the Australian version. Different editor (Australian Editor) so the books aren't exactly the same, there are going to be differences. I think that the North American version is definitely worth waiting for. :) I can't wait to read the next one too!
