Waiting on Wednesday: Darkness Before Dawn

Time for another amazing Wednesday! :)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by the awesome Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating! This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Darkness Before Dawn by J.A. London
This electrifying new trilogy blends the best of paranormal and dystopian storytelling in a world where the war is over. And the vampires won.

Humans huddle in their walled cities, supplying blood in exchange for safety. But not even that is guaranteed. Dawn has lost her entire family and now reluctantly serves as the delegate to Lord Valentine, the most powerful vampire for miles. It isn’t until she meets Victor, Valentine’s son, that she realizes not all vampires are monsters....

Darkness Before Dawn is a fresh new story with captivating characters, unexpected plot twists, a fascinating setting, and a compelling voice. Written under the name J. A. London by a talented mother-son team, the trilogy is perfect for fans of True Blood and the House of Night and Morganville Vampires series.

To say that I'm excited for this book would be an understatement I think this has to be one of my most anticipated reads of 2012! I'm just completely in love with that cover, and the whole "dystopian vampire" thing kind of reminds me of The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa, but in the best possible way! :)

WHAT BOOK ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

  5. Isn't this cover absolutely stunning. It reminds me a little of Fallen by Lauren Kate. Love love love the idea of a dystopian/paranormal mix. Especially one involving vampires. I need to check out The Immortal Rules as well. Gosh I'm so behind!

  8. The dress! The dress!! THE DRESS!!! Oops sorry, Mimi, I can't help acting like that every time I see a book with beautiful dress in the cover! Well, luckily there are many books that feature gorgeous dress in the cover now! <3

It kind of reminds me with The Immortal Rules too! Oh, a mother-son work? I'm definitely intrigued to check out this book when it comes out!! What I find strange is I'm not a big fan of House of Night series, but I LOVVVEEE Southern Vampire series... and I haven't read Morganville Vampire series! So it might be safe to say that I don't know whether I'm going to love this book or not! xD

Awesome pick, Mimi! Thank you for putting this book on my radar! <3

  33. Love the cover of this book ... makes me wish I would have designed it ...

I am in some sort of reading slump, way behind on my reading ... but I'll add this one to my TBR list.

  34. Confession: I almost left your blog without commenting when I saw the word "Vampires." No problem with vampires, I'm just tired of the same-old-same-old. However, I'm glad I kept reading because this actually looks fabulously fresh and interesting! Besides, despite their potentially "overdone-ness," I'm still a sucker for a Dystopian. I will definitely be reading it. Thanks for the heads up!

(Though doesn't that cover look freakishly like Lauren Kate's Fallen In Love and Rapture covers?)

Feel free to stop by and check out my WoW!

  35. The Immortal Rules were my first thought too! I am a bit scared of such a beautiful cover, but I don't think I'll be able to resist giving this a try. :)

  37. I can never resist a human vs. vampire war, Miss Mimi. Even if I've read the story 100 times, I still hold out hope it's a sweepingly romantic, dark new way of looking at it. :) Nice pick!

  38. HEY! MAY! That's only next month! For some reason I kept thinking this was out late June. Anyway, I SO WANT TO READ THIS. Vampire dystopians are totally the next big thing, Julie Kagawa will make sure of that :D So I already know I want MORE from that genre. I have high hopes for this one and with such a gorgeous cover, it's just begging to be added to my bookshelf!
