COVER LOVE: Wow Edition!

Sometimes you come across a cover where all you can think is: "WOW." And here are some covers I recently stumbled across that had that effect on me! :)

For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund
Release Date: June 12, 2012

| Amazon

Generations ago, a genetic experiment gone wrong—the Reduction—decimated humanity, giving rise to a Luddite nobility who outlawed most technology.

Eighteen-year-old Luddite Elliot North has always known her place in this caste system. Four years ago Elliot refused to run away with her childhood sweetheart, the servant Kai, choosing duty to her family’s estate over love. But now the world has changed: a new class of Post-Reductionists is jumpstarting the wheel of progress and threatening Luddite control; Elliot’s estate is floundering; and she’s forced to rent land to the mysterious Cloud Fleet, a group of shipbuilders that includes renowned explorer Captain Malakai Wentforth—an almost unrecognizable Kai. And while Elliott wonders if this could be their second chance, Kai seems determined to show Elliot exactly what she gave up when she abandoned him.

But Elliot soon discovers her childhood friend carries a secret—-one that could change the society in which they live…or bring it to its knees. And again, she’s faced with a choice: cling to what she’s been raised to believe, or cast her lot with the only boy she’s ever loved, even if she has lost him forever.

Inspired by Jane Austen’s PERSUASION, FOR DARKNESS SHOWS THE STARS is a breathtaking romance about opening your mind to the future and your heart to the one person you know can break it.

Beauty is pointless when no one's looking.

Brianna Paxton has been invisible to guys since the eighth grade. She’s pretty enough, it’s just that no one bothers to look. There’s almost nothing that can’t be explained with science, and Brianna has a theory: she’s missing the pheromone that attracts people to one another. Brianna’s theory is shot to hell in one frozen, silver moment, when time stops and Blake Williams not only sees her, he recognizes something inside her that she’s been hiding from even herself.

Before Brianna fully understands who and what she is, she accidentally binds her soul to Blake. Forced to find a way to reconcile forbidden love and her bloody heritage, Brianna discovers that there's nothing pointless about her, and Blake may be in the most danger of all.

The Soul by Stephenie Meyer
(The Host #2)
Release Date: August 8, 2012

You can't tell me you don't want to read any of these books! There's a Jane Austen-inspired story, soul-binding, faery steampunk, and a sequel to one of the coolest books I've ever read! I'd say that makes for a couple of awesome books! ;)

What book are you most excited for?

  12. OMG! Is that a possible cover for The Soul??? :O It may not be the most dazzling one out there, but HOLY HELL am I ever excited for it!! :P The Host was probably the only adult book I've ever read that I actually enjoyed. I was terrified that Stephenie might not be continuing with the series, so you can watch me dance that there's at least SOME news surrounding it!

    A.k.a. There's hope! (:

Thanks a million times over for sharing this, Mimi-Doll! <333333 That's one totally wow-worthy batch you've got there! ;)

  23. MIMI. Awesome batch of covers! Don't even get me started on my obsession with For Darkness Shows the Stars. That cover... *tries to breathe* Simply takes my breath away, a hundred times over. Like, I should be dead. Why haven't I read it yet? Damn the release date! I should've read this, like, yesterday. XD

Innocent Darkness is one I'm happy to have on my kindle shelf. Looks like such a delicious fantasyish/steampunkish/paranormalish, and what have you, read.

  25. MIMI :O Do you do this every Friday?! I might explode with excitement!! I love staring at pretty covers for an almost unacceptable amount of time x)

For Darkness Shows the Stars is a STUNNER. It is so easy to win me over... all you have to do is add sparkles and FDStS has them in abundance! I love the magical feel of the pose the girl is in too <3 This is definitely a book I'll be on the lookout for come June.

OMG Silver. I hadn't even heard of it before now but wow, it sounds awesome! When reading the summary, I was like, "okay, normal, normal, poor kid, oh cool, accidentally binds her soul... ACCIDENTALLY BINDS HER SOUL?!" I am so excited to read about Brianna and her "bloody heritage." The gorgeous cover is definitely doing it some favours too :)

Innocent Darkness sounds AMAZING and the cover is fhkjahfsdekgdgf beautiful. I just... NO WORDS.

THE SOUL????? Okay, I am clearly the last one to the party but I didn't even know The Host was getting a sequel! I know I've read it before but I thought it was all speculation and rumours :O Eeeee, I'm so excited! The Host was pretty fabulous and I just can't wait to see what happens next! I'm not really loving that cover but who cares! The Soul! YAYAYAYA!

Okay, bedtime now... especially since I've been informed we're leaving the house at 5 AM O_O

  28. Definitely in love with the cover for The Darkness Shows the Stars. Gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I LOVE the Silver cover dude!!!! Seriously!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. AAAAAAAAAAAAh! Natalia! Where do you find these? BEAUTIFUL covers! I'm really looking forward to For Darkness Shows the Stars. I mean, it sounds AMAZING, AND it's based on a Jane Austen novel? HELLO! I AM THERE. And Silver? OK, I thought from the cover it was fantasy, so the blurb threw me. WANT!

And did you ay fairy steampunk? Uh... I think I love you.

Also: OMG! I SO hope that cover and release date for The Soul are real. PLEASE?

    ReplyDelete
  31. You always pick the books I'm crazy excited to read, I'm convinced you have access to your loyal minion readers minds :D Well, the exception being The Soul because I haven't read The Host. The cover does look kinda fanmade, but I ADORE all the others so, SO much! And OMG they sound amazing. I still have yet to read Diana's badass unicorn books, but they're high on my wishlist, as is FDSTS. Silver sounds SO intriguing and different and I want to know more.

AND STEAMPUNK. FAERIES. And that cover is probably my favourite of them all. It's just so... COOL!

    ReplyDelete
  32. OMG OMG I was going to do a decent comment saying something about each cover but THE SOUL!! The Host is one of my definitely-all-time-favorites which I read last year (and I had bought it, like, years ago, when it first came out). I'm so excited for the sequel, and even if the cover is not as eye-catching as the first, I'm still dying to read it. And it comes out this August! *dies*

Onto the others... For Darkness Shows the Stars is my favorite. I mean, look at those stars! They are just so so beautiful. And the girl, with her beautiful dress, half-transparent... <3

Although Silver is the one that chatches my attention the most with its summary, the cover hasn't convinced me yet. There's something about the colors, the black, that doesn't seem right :S

Anyways, beautiful covers, Mimi! Certainly wow-ing material ♥

  33. Awesome cover picks for this week, Mimi! Like always. ;) For Darkness Shows the Stars is seriously gorgeous cover! The moment I saw the cover, I fell in love instantly too! I can't believe that there is a book with cover that impressive! The book definitely made my wishlist, purely because of the cover LOL! <3

This is my first time seeing Silver. How can I was completely in lost at the book?? The blurb sounds completely original! I smiled when I read the part that she thinks she's lack of pheromone! I'm really curios what she is actually! Innocent Darkness is on my TBR list and I agree, Mimi, the cover is amazing! :)

Yay, finally they show cover for The Soul! It's not the best cover out there for certain. Finger crossed it's not the final cover! :D
