We didn't before when it was just Meghan and I and we would double, triple and sometimes even quadruple post in a day, then have nothing for a week..lol

So far, scheduling seems to really be helping. I actually use it to set goals for myself and work to get books read by a certain time. It's really been helping lately because I've been so busy so it's nice that I have postsready and don't have to stress so much about them.

It also allows for me to see where we are lacking for certain types of posts. So it's good in that aspect as well. We generally have two weeks in advanced scheduled and since we are all busy moms, it definitely works for us..lolJenn @ Owl Read Ithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00600988788971297166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841889026658306428.post-90255159872545722952012-07-25T22:12:40.157-04:002012-07-25T22:12:40.157-04:00I'm mostly like you lol I don't plan too m...I'm mostly like you lol I don't plan too much. I only plan memes and blogs tours ahead of time. I sometimes plan reviews ahead of time but mostly I just go along reading and then when I have time to write up my thoughts I do it and post it that night or sometimes later that week. It works for me. I have seen some people with really fancy schedules but that just takes the fun out of it for me. I like to go with the flow. Sometimes I do end up going out late or hanging with friends and I used to freak that I had days where I didn't post but I just let it happen now. Everyday is a lot to keep up with and I know I don't always have time to visit blogs every day so I'm good with people that only post a few times a week so sometimes I do the same.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10702366874779315384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841889026658306428.post-25720329794987017422012-07-24T21:54:10.568-04:002012-07-24T21:54:10.568-04:00I. FEEL. YOU. on the writing the night before bit....I. FEEL. YOU. on the writing the night before bit... that is EXACTLY what I do. I sort of have a review schedule where I post reviews on Tuesday and Friday every week, but nearly every single time those reviews are written the night before and then scheduled to go up in the morning. That works for me at times, but when I'm busy and just don't have the time to write a review or post, then I have nothing to fall back on because I have zero posts planned.

I like to have things up regularly each week, but in order to do that I think I'm going to need to start planning! Actually, better yet, I might just employ a blogger maid to write all my posts for me. I plan out what posts are going up when, and I also use it to keep track of what books are coming out when [although I use Goodreads for that too]. That helps me when I have ARCs and need to see when to post my review. And then I try to schedule posts a week in advance. I know people who schedule months and months ahead, but usually I can't even get stuff scheduled a week in advance, ha. ;)

Fabulous discussion! But if I want to go ahead and get them out the way I will look at the topics and write them up.

Many of my reviews I write the night they will post but sometimes I do get ahead. I like to be a bit more open about things because sometimes I come up with post ideas last minute and I just go ahead and post it most of the time. However, if I'm really busy a certain week, then the blog can be kind of blank and planning ahead might have been better. And I loved how you had both sides of viewing the habit of posting. I don't think there's a right or wrong, and I think you're going along absolutely fine with the MPM ^_^ I guess I'm like you in spontaneous posting, but not really in the writing part. Unlike most people, I don't type up my reviews (well, maybe I do to, like 1% of them.) but I write them down in my Book Reviews Notebook beforehand. Somehow I manage to plan, and yet remain spontaneous.

When I have a really big review-pile, I type it up all in one day, and then pick the days that I want to post each one up. (That's what I've been doing recently.) But, if I don't have a big pile, I just type it up and post it. (I'll probably return to the second method once school starts.)

As for non-review posts, I have some stuff that I already promised to post on a certain day/month, so I write that on my agenda. For the Quote of the Week, I used to make it ahead of time, but now I just make it at the last minute, along with IMM. Then, every once in a while, I post something at spontaneous because it just happens to come up :)hshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03759819614075101334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841889026658306428.post-91229401179545590202012-07-21T22:29:58.418-04:002012-07-21T22:29:58.418-04:00AHAHA. As much as I'd absolutely love to be one of those bloggers who has post lined up months in advance, I prefer to write my reviews/discussion posts/etc right before I post them. I usually know what I'm supposed to have posted days or even a few weeks in advance. That doesn't mean my reading or review is completed. Especially this last week when all I've been doing is catching up! I went on a vacation and figured I'd have loads of time to read (hahahaha!!!!the joke was totally on me!) and I didn't get to read except for on the plane. Needless to say I've had to spend late nights reading after work and then writing up the reviews! Most of the time this is not the case and I have things under control.

Btw, I love these Book Talk 101 posts! Except that while you're disorganized yet still able to get a post up each day, I tend to get lazy and procrastinate heaps until I forget to post something :P So my aim? To become more like you! x) Though since school is starting like, tomorrow, I doubt I'll be successful. I've actually tried scheduling posts way ahead, but then, because I'm so lazy and all, I'd find myself catching up to the most recent post almost immediately without anything else to post after that! I even made a calendar three weeks ago telling me what to write each day and everything... yeah, it didn't really work LOL :S

Anyway, awesome discussion post, Mimi! <3 I love hearing how everyone else does this because it kind of helps motivate me to be more organized as well :3Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10462489798456668551noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841889026658306428.post-5424397569815875892012-07-21T14:06:41.334-04:002012-07-21T14:06:41.334-04:00LOL, okay, I have to admit that... And it works for me too, because I always seem to work best under pressure and I get things done! I do feel real unorganized though and I SHOULD plan ahead and schedule, but... I can never keep it up. I do have a calendar for WHEN posts should go up, which makes me feel a little better, but even then I do the same things. Sadly, it can be ruined quite badly by evil internet crashes and similar things though I learned pretty badly lately :/

I have started preparing posts though! Such as adding the cover and information I need for reviews beforehand, so I can just focus on writing the review the day before. It's definitely nicer! Then check out the comments the next day and comment back to them. I tend to be lazy sometimes especially when writing reviews. I just want to read and read and read. LOL! I usually panic when it's already 3 days and still haven't come up with anything. I'm not a natural writer so I really need to be in the right mood to be able to write a decent one. Haha! Extremely disorg- I mean spontaneous =p I never seem to be able to schedule posts ahead of time. I write my review as soon as I'm done reading the book or 2-3 days after and post it ASAP... Not even the day after. If I'm dissatisfied with it, I'll sleep on it, edit it in the morning and post it. I totally admire people who manage to schedule their posts though being spontaneous is fun too.

If I'm not in the mood, I usually just put it off for the next day... unless it's a blog tour post in which case I give myself an hour's break. If you ever see all my posts including the drafts and the scheduled ones, you'd totally shake your head in dismay. I have some reviews that are scheduled on December 2012 - some are finished and some are not. I tend to schedule my unfinished reviews waaay ahead of time to remind myself that I have posts to finish since they'd be first on my post list. Like now I have about two weeks worth ready. The first week is ready to auto post but the second weeks worth aren't actually scheduled because some are back up posts and some need to be edited, etc. I also prep posts for things I'm signed up for like tours and stuff. They are often just titled and then I post the date so I know when it needs to go up and I finish prepping it when I have the content.
I usually have more posts sitting there actually so that's not that many. The reviews and everything in between just sort of happen as I go along. :P I do always think about what days to post what etc. so they're are reasonably spread out over the week, but I don't prepare a whole months worth of posts and then schedule them (which is what I know a few people do!) Sometimes, I review faster than I update the blog so there are always a small handful of reviews waiting to be posted and that always means I have something to put up. This is as far as my organisation goes though. :PSam (Realm of Fiction)https://www.blogger.com/profile/04440380021875536125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841889026658306428.post-12943905218858979762012-07-20T18:28:01.211-04:002012-07-20T18:28:01.211-04:00I schedule posts, but I don't have a calendar ...I schedule posts, but I don't have a calendar that I stick to. I just try to have a week's worth of posts ready-to-go, so if something comes up and I can't be near my computer, I don't need to panic!

I still end up flying by the seat of my pants some weeks, but I've found scheduling ahead of time gives me more time to work on those posts I'm not 100% confident in yet (usually my discussion pieces).Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10185081981237514590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5841889026658306428.post-80088967964936443092012-07-20T15:13:36.249-04:002012-07-20T15:13:36.249-04:00I used to be spontaneous. But there are times when I realize I have nothing to go up that day and I jump on the computer. I guess I'm both? Haha.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03849853402753473461noreply@blogger.com
